SeaLink Travel Group employs over 9,000 employees across Australia, Singapore and the United Kingdom. We are looking for an experienced, passionate and driven HSEQ Leader to support our 5500+ employees across our Australian Public Transport division. This role will be integral in supporting our safety culture transformation, through building and embedding safety awareness and capability across the division enabling a proactive safety culture.

 

About the Role - What will you do?

 

As Head of HSEQ (Australian Public Transport) your responsibilities will include:

  • Advice to the Chief Operating Officer (APT), General Managers  and other business leaders to ensure compliance with WHS law.
  • Complete detailed annual review of safety performance, identifying trends and opportunities to increase safety awareness and performance.
  • Develop an annual safety plan to improve safety governance, awareness and performance.
  • Ensure annual Safety KPI’s are in place for all business units, containing both lead and lag indicators.
  • Ensure Workers Compensation claims are being actively managed and premium impacting claims are reported to Chief People & Culture Officer.
  • Coordinate the continual review and improvement of the HSEQ Management System.
  • Monitor and communicate changes to legislation to ensure compliance is maintained.
  • Monitor systems in place for hazardous work, contractor and visitor management.
  • Monitor incident reporting and the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Monitor the investigation of incidents, ensuring determination of contributing factors, root cause with timely and effective close out of corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness, injury and incident prevention.

About You - Who do we want to apply?

 

The successful applicant must possess the following skills and experience: 

  • Experienced HSEQ leader with a background leading in a multi-site, cross functional network preferably within the transport industry.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety with extensive experience in the management of a health, safety, environment management system.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Work Health & Safety Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Risk Management principles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of documented management systems (ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001).
  • Knowledge of Australian Transport Safety (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and oral) that contribute to engaging teams and effective senior stakeholder management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and evaluation skills.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and highly resilient.
  • Demonstrated time management and multi-tasking skills to deliver to tight deadlines.
