The PS Murray Princess is the largest inland paddle wheeler in the Southern Hemisphere.  Accommodating a maximum of 120 guests and operating 3, 4 and 7 night cruises on the Murray River from Mannum, 87 kilometres from Adelaide, this stunning vessel attracts guests from all over Australia and the world.


About the Role


The Shore Based General Hand is responsible for the transportation of goods on and off the vessel, removal of rubbish, assisting with vessel mooring and disembarkation of guests.


The Shore Based General Hand may be required to transfers stores to the vessel and assist with  the day to day maintenance, cleanliness and presentation of the external areas of the vessel, wharf, car park and office.


Working in close conjunction with all crew, duties will include:

  • Assist the crew with guest disembarkation
  • Assist with the transfer of luggage from the vessel
  • Pickup and delivery of equipment, stores and consumables for the vessel, office and mooring locations
  • Transfer and stocking of stores on the vessel
  • General maintenance and cleaning of wharf area, store room and office building
  • Removal of rubbish form the vessel
  • Participate in formal and informal training, as required
  • Liaise with the Office Manager pre ships arrival into Mannum for operational instructions

The casual role is approx. 5hrs per week Fridays with availability Mondays desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Manual handling skills including power tools use

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Driver’s Licence both manual and automatic - Essential
  • Experience driving with a trailer – Essential
  • Experience in providing Guest Service – Desirable
  • Experience in the tourism industry
  • Experience in the transport industry
