About the role
This position will be an integral part of the Sealink Travel Group ferries team. The primary function of the Chief Engineer role is the safe and efficient operation of Company vessel engines and mechanical systems.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for compliance with safe work practices, the MEX maintenance systems and monitoring, maintenance and repair of equipment within manufacturers’ specifications and to manager’s approval. The Chief Engineer
oversees the Engineers work practices, standards and performance, and assists with deck loading operations.
This position requires interpersonal and organisational skills and effective written and verbal communication skills are essential to this role.
This position requires the flexibility to work casually based on a 7 day on roster and may be required to work outside of these hours on occasions during periods of annual slippings and maintenance requirements.
A sound knowledge of the vessel is essential to all aspects of this role. You will be working in close conjunction with the Master.
The Chief Engineer will be expected to assist with the safe and secure operations of Company vessels as directed by the Master.
