BIT (Bay Island Transit) Operations Manager

The BIT (Bay Island Transit) Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of a Government contracted ferry service. This is a leadership position and a high level of interpersonal skills, business acumen, financial understanding, knowledge of the marine or transport industry is required to ensure ongoing success.

 

You will be a highly driven and motivated individual with a focus on driving and supporting current and future business growth.

 

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Working in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager to ensure our engineering team has the tools and allocated time to achieve the required maintenance on our vessels
  • Managing the TransLink contract, ensuring KPI’s are being met and reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with the Workshop Manager and Vessel Master’s to ensure engineering issues are satisfactorily communicated and resolved on a timely basis
  • Meeting with TransLink on a regular basis to ensure services are meeting current transport needs, planning for changes and obtaining customer feedback.
  • Identifying solutions for operational improvements to assist in the efficient operations and safety of our vessels and infrastructure

 

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • The ability to take ownership of this role, drive progress and produce results
  • Finance and business acumen including budget development and the ability to produce high level/analytical reports
  • Strong knowledge and experience with safety and compliance
  • Strong knowledge and experience within the Transport/Marine Industry
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to mentor, coach and motivate staff
  • Strong People Management skills
  • Computer competent with Software, Word, Excel Intranet and PowerPoint
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal / external stakeholders
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Clean Driver's Licence
