So, what are we looking for?

 

We are in search of professional Resort Porter to join our diverse team of Hospitality lovers… do you think you have what it takes?

 

A few essentials about you…

  • Have a professional outlook in the workplace and show an invested interest in the hustle and bustle of the Hospitality industry
  • Proven experience in a resort / hotel / motel housekeeping environment
  • Ability to take direction, take on multiple tasks at once, and follow standard daily job boards and lists
  • Ability to work autonomously or in teams – proven ability to work unsupervised
  • Meticulous attention to detail – looking further than the obvious
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative at work
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other resort departments
  • Take pride in your customer service abilities to ensure our guests’ experience on island is one to remember! Offering guests a professional level of service in a relaxed and friendly environment
  • Immaculate grooming and presentation
  • Great time management skills

Role Responsibilities:

  • Meet and greet all incoming barge transfers to the resort
  • Efficiently pick up and deliver luggage to guest rooms from arriving barge sailings
  • Efficiently pick up departing guest luggage and pack luggage truck for departing barge.
  • Liaise with Skipper and barge staff for the safe loading and unloading of the luggage truck
  • Perform all resort guest and luggage transfers.
  • Coordinate luggage pick-up and delivery arrangements for any group arrivals
  • Complete Porter daily shift sheet check
  • When requested assist front office with check in, check outs, providing guest guidance to room allocations, answering incoming calls & tour bookings.
  • Vacuuming and emptying all accessible areas in back office area
  • Clearning all cutlery and crockery from the Back Office / kitchen and ensuring the general tidiness of it.
  • Washing and cleaning the buses, and the luggage trucks on a weekly basis as directed by the Duty Manager.
  • All vehicle checks to be done on a daily basis prior to driving the vehicles. Hand over check list to the Duty Manager.
  • Abide by all Workplace Health and Safety rules and regulations at all times
  • Any reasonable additional duties as directed by the requested by the Duty Manager, Front Office Manager or Rooms Division manager.

A few simple role requirements…

  • A valid Police Clearance (within 6 months or less), or the ability to obtain one for work
  • A valid manual licence – essential to the role.
  • The ability to work across a broad rostering system, over a 7 day working week
  • The ability to work during peak seasonal periods

 

Moving to Fraser Island…

This involves moving into the Staff Village, located within a 10 minute walk of the Resort and Barge, and sharing the Village facilities with between 80-100 like-minded team members.
