 SeaLink QLD is looking for Vessel Master <35M NC (Master class 4) to join our team as soon as possible.

The SeaLink Queensland operates out of Townsville, sunny North Queensland and is proudly Australian owned and operated. With 4 vessels and over 75 staff SeaLink QLD is a significant transport and tour operator in the region, operating charters and Cruise Ship Transfers, as well as 18 daily services to beautiful Magnetic Island and 5 services a week to Palm Island.

These attributes will be complimented by experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Vessel Master Class 4 qualification
  • MED 2 qualification or higher is valued but not compulsory
  • Experience with high speed catamarans 
  • Proven management experience
  • Knowledge of safety and maritime obligations
  • Senior First Aid and Resuscitation Qualification
  • Drivers Licence
  • Proven track record of excellent customer service 
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Experience in the tourism industry


About the role


The Vessel Master leads and manages safely and efficiently the daily operation of the vessel and its crew, ensuring the delivery of high standard passenger services. Clear communication, physical fitness and the ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines is paramount in this role. 


Working in close conjunction with all crew, duties will include:

  • Safe vessel navigation
  • Conducting drills and maintaining knowledge of the Vessel's Safety Management Systems
  • Conduct daily checks and paperwork
  • Leadership and mentoring of crew
  • Assist with the safe, efficient and timely boarding and disembarkation of all passengers.
  • Assist with cleaning duties at the end of shift
